I am an American psychologist, having come from San Francisco to the Netherlands some twenty plus years ago. My practice in America was diverse, working with children and adults, people with chemical dependency problems, ex-convicts, adolescents with legal problems, couples and familes, both hospital-based and private practice outpatient treatment with folks dealing with the numerous problems we face in life. Ph.D. research on child developmen in the People's Republic of China; I have a lot of experience in cross cultural psychology.
Since coming to the Netherlands, I have been working with people from all over the world, where English may or may not be their native tongue. Positive psychology has informed my practice in recent years, with a focus on building what is strong rather than soley working on fixing what is wrong. I also teach clinical and health psychology at University College Utrecht, an honors undergraduate program serving Dutch and international students.
